I ordered a U400 on Nov 27th, the estimated shipping date is today Dec 2nd, but ... nothing heard from lenovo yet!!
i was quite worried because I won't be at home from Dec 19th... I will call the custom service again today but won't put much hope on it.
UPDATES" shoot! just saw it that the estimated shipping date changed into Jan 16 2012! NOOOO.... by then I won't even be in U.S!!
Anyone can give me some advise? or any reason it is late as estimated?

I would call. The system seems to automatically change shipping dates, my U260 was to ship on the 28th of Nov, the date got switched to the middle of December, my computer arrived on the 29th of Nov while the site still showed a middle of Dec shipping date.

Also, I would do live chat, they keep you on hold forever while live chat is instant and they will have the info.

I had a rough experience with Lenovo...
Ordered two Y470s on 10/29 with an "estimated" ship date of 11/08. Put them on my AMEX (standard green card).
On 11/10 I received an e-mail stating my order had been cancelled...after calling in, the only reason I could get was my bank had "not responded".
After unleashing my emotions on a poor saleswoman in North Carolina, my order was reinstated with a estimated ship date of 11/29. Luckily, they shipped on 11/17.
Overall, I ended up with the laptops the week after Thanksgiving.
