Hi Vihali
You can find the script/module here: - Just change the name from U350.txt to S10e.cs
"Installation and setup is divided in two steps. The program Notebook Hardware Control (NHC) is available at http://www.pbus-167.com/. Install the program, but do not start it for now. Then you need my NHCConfig utility, available here: http://forum.eeepcnews.de/download/file.php?id=147
After you have done these two steps, just replace the original S10e.cs file inside (C: )... Notebook Hardware Control/acpi with the one you download in the first link I gave here. You will also have to change the class in the .cs-file from U350 to S10e. That's it. ![]()

@xloserx: it works great! The fan keeps silent right after applying the script. Tack sa mycket.

@vihali
That's great!
But are you saying you don't experience the 3 seconds OFF - 0,5 second ON cycling of the fan?

Hi xloserx,
When I applied the script the fan stops immediately. The computer started into ON/OFF cycle just after a while.
The CPU temp. is about 50 oC.

Hi guys,
I've just installed Notebook Hardware Controller as Vihali explained. It is working the same way - 3 seconds OFF - 0,5 second ON cycling. And the temperature is rising!
The fan is cycling even if the values in ACPI control system options are set to minimum. The fan never starts to cool the computer for a longer period than 0.5sec.
Does anybody has a better solution or tricks how to fix these problems?

Hi.
No, so far I have had no luck in figuring out this. I had alot of help from Carsten in the S10 forum, but as he doesn't have a U350 it's difficult for him to help me. My best hope is that Lenovo would release a new BIOS with better temperature thresholds for when the fan should kick in.
Temp was also rising here, but never exceeded 55 degrees - even when playing movies, so I didn't mind that. I only use NHC with the script if I am using the computer somewhere I know it could disturb someone.

Thank you xloserx.
Could you please post here a short announcement here, if the new BIOS is released? I've subscribed for this thread, so I will get a notice.

Yes, of course - but don't hold your breath. It took quite some time before Lenovo tried to fix the same issues with the S10 models.

Hi xloserx
Thank you so much for your time trying to help us desperate people out there!
.
- However, I couldn't get the solution to function properly. I'm the proud owner of a Lenovo U350 - I think it looks awesome, but this fan issue is really killing me here.
When I installed NHC everything went fine - Until I ran the NHC configuration utility. It said: Access denied when trying to write to file C:\Program Files\....\ACPI\Lenovo.xml. So I went to have a look at the file, and it didn't exist. After creating the file, NHC was able to complete without errors. I overwrited the s10e.cs file you gave me here, and tried to launch NHC. An error pops up: ERROR! -> Can't find the product class ´s10e´ in the dll file C:\Program Files\Notebook Hardware Control\acpi\s10e.dll
I really appreciate any effort in helping me resolving this issue! Thanks a bunch!
