Ideapad Y470 not detecting the integrated webcam

I installed Win 7 ultimate on the ideapad Y470. The webcam was working fine but did not have the clarity I was looking for. So I tried to re-install the driver ( it blue screened in the process but I was able to install it). After which the system is not detecting my webcam at all. Any ideas of where I am going wrong or what I can do to make it detect my webcam?

have you tried to activate the camera by pressing fn + f5 before starting installation?

Yes I did. It visually shows me that the camera is activated. But I cannot see the camera anywhere else in my system.

have you installed youcam or checked it with msn/skype?

Yes I have youcam and skype installed and both of them say that "no webcam connected".

Also, when I scanned for hardware changes in the device manager it crashes to blue screen with " DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL " error.

it usually points hardware issue. can you re-install the operation system to check it it's not software issue?
