Lenovo Y450/Y570 audio stuttering

[ Edited ]

Lately I've updated my Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver to version 15.22.50.64.2509.

After the upgrade I've noticed improvement in DPC latency during idle and audio playback.

But once I access internet (via Chrome browser) DPC latency and its accompanying audio stuttering problem returns.

I'm wondering if somebody at Lenovo is working on resolution of the sound problem in these multimedia laptops?

Re: Lenovo Y450/Y570 audio stuttering

Check that the CPU usage if is at 100% when the shuttering sound appears. I had the same problem, and it was caused by McAfee antivirus. After uninstalling eveything was ok, no more strange sounds.

Hope it helps.

Re: Lenovo Y450/Y570 audio stuttering

I have tested out Helsad's suggestion, and am happy to report that I haven't had a single audio stutter since I uninstalled the McAfee antivirus!  Lets hope its stays this way.  Dunno if this will work for everyone, but thanks for the suggestion bud.

Peace!

@Helsad,

Thanks for posting your findings.

@Others,

Please try uninstalling McAfee Antivirus as suggested by Helsad.

Re: Lenovo Y570 sound stuttering when WiFi is enabled

what i forgot to tell is that i did a clean windows install, after the clean installation i didn t installed again the mcafee antivirus , and i installed the latest drivers , i tried all the bios , that i could found and the problems still exist , but if i unplug the power the noise is more clear , and is i disable the wireless the sound again become more clear, for me the problem is when my external speakers are at the maximum level .

Re: Lenovo Y570 sound stuttering when WiFi is enabled

geo_lion03's problem is probably unrelated to the current thread. It probably reffers to the constant noise when using the audio output, which is probably caused by poor (magnetic) insulation.

It's still a bit early to say for sure but apparently the problem has been resolved by removing Norton Antivirus. I'll come back with a reply if it still shows up.

Thanks.

Re: Lenovo Y570 sound stuttering when WiFi is enabled

thanks for replay , it s true that is a constant noise when i use the audio output :smileysad: , and i m so disappointed because of this problem , i love to use my powerfull external speacker to listen music , and in my old laptop i never had such a problem , i love this laptop but ... this drive me crazy , and what i had noticed last night was that if the laptop is plug out this reduces noises, isn t any solution for this problem? i mean a new bios or audio drivers fix , wi fi audio driver fix etc ... it s a hardware issue? because i don t feel to send it back to service , i read about some who had this issue and after back from the service the problem still was present.

Re: Lenovo Y570 sound stuttering when WiFi is enabled

I have a Y570 and it came with a free 30 day trial of Macafee, as I am sure all of yours have. I noticed the sound jumps (and simultaneous CPU flare to 100%) when I got it and assumed the problem would be resolved in a BIOS or driver update. It kept continuing, but now that I think about it since my Macafe trial ended and I have been working solely off of MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) I do not think I have encountered the sound issue. This is sad considering Lenovo gives us this expensive security software. I was talking with the Geek Squad guys at Best Buy and they claim that they have stopped selling Macafe because of the evident problems it causes. This may not be the problem, but it seems like many people are raising flags to indicate that Macafe is a serious contender to the issue.
