Key Feels stuffy

The #3 Key on my Y560 feels stuffy all of a sudden. I have not spilled anything on it (I'm super paranoid about drinkning anything near the laptop). Unlike the other key, it requires more force to push. I took the key off to see if any dust collected underneath it, but there was none. Any way to make it smooth again?

hi DarkLite,

with regards to this, i would suggest bringing it to a service center for them to check.

Do give the support team a call to locate a service center closest to you.

Re: Key Feels stuffy

That is a bit weird, isn't it?

It's due to the rubber which serves as an insulator, and a spring. What has happened is the rubber has conformed to the pressing, resulting in a smoother depression.

I've never looked into it, but it may be due to the rubber aging and softening. Not sure though. The only realistic fix would be to replace the keyboard.

I'm not sure if you have Staples Business Depot in the US, but I used to work for them here in Canada. We could order in a keyboard for about $37.50. Of course, if it is still under warranty, they will replace the key if found to be defective (aka, the key is not registering a keystroke).

Consider ordering a new keyboard if it really bothers you. Otherwise, I really have no idea how to rejuvinate that rubber!
