[ Edited ]

I have compiled a Clean Install Guide that will enable you to burn a Legal and genuine Windows 7 Edition + All the latest drivers / utilities that you need for your IdeaPad /Y570 to function properly at the max performance!

All the Intel Drivers are the latest ones and also downloading the latest nVIDIA Drivers v296.10 gave me an additional 150 3DMarks in 3DMark11

The guide is here

My Benchmarks:

I have created a comprehensive Clean Install Guide ?

From your link "I recommend formatting your drives, deleting the useless Asus recovery partition, repartitioning as needed and installing a clean copy of Windows. You can later make a backup of Windows to replace the functionality of the Asus recovery partition."

Did you really create  this tutorial?

Yes I did, and sorry for the typos...I had copied the initial part from my ASUS Clean Install guide as the first part is about Windows which is the same for most laptops

Fixed now....

Not a real problem seeing it's a very good guide, but I'd be happier if you would have used the word "compiled" instead of "created" Good Job!

compiledpast participle, past tense of com·pile (Verb)

Verb:
  1. Produce (something, esp. a list, report, or book) by assembling information collected from other sources.
  2. Collect (information) in order to produce something.

Are there extra complications for Y570's that have SSD with RapidBoot/RapidDrive installed? I was under the impression that those were pretty finicky about how they're dealt with.

That's an entirely different topic as the mSATA SSD is hidden by default and you cant install Windows on it. I am working on this....

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad Y570 Clean Install Guide

One of these days I'd like to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional. And upgrade to a faster hard drive and larger SSD. I'm doing a lot of wishful thinking. heh.

Re: Lenovo IdeaPad Y570 Clean Install Guide

berryracer,

Nice write up, and great job on the PC Tweakers site!  Kudos to you.

One question on your instructions about downloading from digital river, and using the COA key on the bottom of the system.  Our COA is for the OEM version of Windows that is preloaded.

Is the download you are suggested for a retail version?  If so, I don't think the key from the COA on the bottom of the system is going to unlock it, or perhaps in 30 days, the user could start getting the activation messages.

Thoughts on this?   I've not tried your process, so I'm just curious.

Thanks again.

Mark
