Lenovo Ideapad Y510 fan is always running; even, when the system is cold

Hello!

I got a problem with my Ideapad Y510 the CPU fan is always running, even when the system is really cold. Can anybody help me? Or should I call the service center ?...

Does the fan bother you in any which way or form. It cant be a bad thing, you would much rather the fan be on all the time than not come on at all , overheating the cpu.So I my self see no need to get in touch with the service centre.

I have the same problem - well as you pointed out it' s not really a problem but still the fan runs almost all of the time, even with the CPU setting on lowest and when it' s not doing anything. Did anyone come up with a solution? Or  I think I remember reading somewhere that there isn' t enough space between the NB and the surface, and someone suggested adding bigger plastic supports (or whatever you call those things the NB stands on)

Yes, putting some things like rubbers, audiocassets (if you remember what's that) or else under supports can help - it helps all notebooks so far.
Also try using SmartFAN, CpuFAN or kind of software for such purpose.

The fan runs all the time on my Y510 too. That said, it is much quieter than pretty much every other notebook fan I've ever used, and I don't find it distracting at all. It doesn't whine. It barely hisses. It never gets loud.

On my other brand laptop which I wont mention its name here, it always runs as well.
