@ all
try uninstalling BioExcess (fingerprint thing) - click on BioExcess in the tray and click disable. go to programs and features and uninstall BioExcess.
Why: I just got the hang again. I had to remove power and battery to clear it. The very first thing that popped up was a flash of Please Wait, and then the fingerprint request.
See if that helps...
The BioExcess we got is dated Dec 1 '10, the latest is Jun 21 '11 Can we get the update???

Just noticed that there's a BIOS flash available for the V570, so flashed it, and survived. Probably don't need it, though as only fix listed is for non OEM win7 install hangs.
Thinking BioExcess is the prob... <--------------------------------------
EDIT: there is one dated 4-13-11 or something - I tried installing over the existing one. DON'T. I had to restore to a previous OS (I use Macrium Reflect) image, uninstall the shipped one, and then install the Apr one, and all seems to be well.............

Can't sent it back. Looks like a picture taken with vaseline on the lens.

I say again, BioExcess fingerprinter.
I uninstalled the factory one and then installed the Apr one from Lenovo downloads. (do NOT install on top of the old one - it hangs.)
Now MUCH faster going to the LOGIN screen.
I only use fingerprint for Win Login. I only occasionally got the hang at please wait. ymmv!
I'd like to hear from some folks who are having this prob a lot.
sorry for dup post - we've got 2 threads about the same thing...

@ JameZ
the only non-Lenovo things in startup are adobe, antivir (avitra), and Acronis TrueImage. It's a pretty slim system. Love it!!!
Again, I note that since I uninstalled the BioExcess factory and installed the later version of BioExcess, my boot up has been much zippier. I have had no hang since doing that.
Also, it seems that complaints have fallen to zero, or folks are on weekend.

Bought a V570, kept getting stuck on boot up. Brought it back. Got another one, started locking up on boot AGAIN. Tried the battery pull thing / hold the power button, which didn't help at all. (Which is a BS fix in my opinion.)
Saw here to uninstall BIOEXCESS, and voila, uninstalled it, and haven't had any problems since (knock on freaking wood, though.) In my opinion, this was clearly responsible.
Where is the latest version of it? Would love to have the fingerprint scanner, but if it locks up the computer, obviously I don't need it.

@snoshark06
go to
http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDow
enter your serial number or whatever to get the list of proggys.
Way down in software you will see an Apr version of BioExcess - that's what I'm using now, with no prob as yet.
That Apr version is when Lenovo got it. The internal date is Jan 11, so Egis realized their prob right away, but somehow it failed to get on the release software.
Glad it worked for you!!!
