good, so now we will have a clear situation if it's RAM chip issue or KIWB1 MB... maybe after that, we will have a proof for lenovo support team to do something... or the KTL chips will work fine, we will see. mmaaddict78 reply after testing the new "KTL" RAM, and thanks in advance
I wrote to the guy who give me the screenshot from cpu-z of his y550 with GM45 (the same I wrote in prevous posts) and he test his 8gb kingston with memtest4.0 and he have 0 errors
he says he have no problems, no blue screens etc everything is ok... For now I can tell that he have: Intel C2D T6600(FSB 800), KIWB1, 8GB RAM(800mhz), 320GB, GeForce G210M. I write some more information about the RAM chip soon (if it's dedicated for lenovo chip or sth else)

so maybe there is some problem with power supply, XBrav mentioned about it between 1333 and 1066 chips, maybe some components (CPU, RAM) with more power consumption makes system unstable (q9100 have 4 cores with 1.050V-1.175V each core...) and yes, it should be compatible with GM45... your previous cpu - P7450 have 2 cores with 1.050V-1.150V so the q9100 power consumption is twice higher

For people who are having wifi issues, does the adapter itself disappear, or does the signal strength just go to zero?

I talk to the guy (who have 8gb with no issues) and he says that he didn't update any drivers since he buy laptop, he have a wifi driver: 13.0.0.107, but he don't know what is the chipset driver becouse even the Intel update utulity don't show what is the number of driver (he says it's probably a normal windows driver). So you can try older drivers too.

Hi again, I have another guy with 8gb and WiFi works: LINK
he have 2x 4GB Kingstone KVR1333D3S9/4G PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM SO-DIMM... so it's 1333 again and everything works fine, maybe 1333 is somehow better than 1066 chips ;P I thik I'll buy 1333 in the future for my y550 ![]()
@kudlatymarcin on this SITE in the comments someone write that his dell 1737 (it's with chipset GM/PM45) recognized this processor as X9100, as you see the other guy talk about his acer aspire 8930g (it's PM45 chipset too)... so probably the E8435 should work in y550 becouse it's the same chipset, but I can't guarantee in 100%...
