Lenovo v570 - Power Button doesn't work, Computer Won't start

Computer's off, it's been off since morning, and I can't get this thing to work! The power button isn't lit, nothing. I press it, and it doesn't turn on the computer at all... I've tried doing these things:

-use battery only

-use charger only

-remove charger and battery, hold button for 30+ seconds, and try again....

none of those work... is my laptop fried? it sucks because i JUST bought this thing a month ago.

  1. First unplug the AC adapter.
  2. Next remove the battery.
  3. Then press the power button 11 times, and hold it for 30 seconds on the 11th time
  4. Finally plug the AC back in.

Try it and report results.

Re: Lenovo v570 - Power Button doesn't work, Computer Won't start

Exactly the same thing happened to me - I called support, and it sounded like they have received many complaints on this very same issue.  They talked me through removing the battery, and so on, and nothing worked.  They waived the shipping fee for me and emailed me a fedex routing sticker, prepaid, which the guy I was talking to thought was very magnaminous - but I thought was the least they could do for my trouble with a virtually brand new product.  He warned me that if it is a hard drive problem, the replacement would of course make me lose all the pictures I spent some time transferring to my laptop.  He said it would take about 7 business days to get back, so we'll see how it works.

Check out my posting from 3 days ago.  Exact same problem...

I just sent mine back to Lenovo to get fixed.

What bothers me is this.  If Lenovo konws about this problem, and is getting many calls and RMA's, why don't they PROACTIVELY notify their customers about this defect, and offer to have the systems sent back to have a new MOBO installed?

As I have stated in my original post, this will be the LAST Lenovo product I ever buy.
