Hello everyone. I just got my IdeaPad Y560 laptop today. Just now, like 15 minutes ago,the hard drive was making a clicking noise everyone 10 seconds or so. Now it has been reduced (maybe temporarly, maybe not). Anyways do you think, my hard drive is malfunctioning in some way? If so, I should probably thnk about geting it replaced right? Also, could it be normal? Thank you very much! My laptops's exact model number 0646-5JU.

I personally don't think it is normal, you should
call Lenovo service and see what they say.
Phone number and other contact info should
be in the manual or other papers that came with it.

make sure you have wd hdd first.
also please tell me which options are checked under policies.
( right click my computer > manage > device management > disc drivers > wdc > properties )
edit: also check errors in system log for hdd issue.

Sorry to bump into an old topic. I just wanted to put in my experience.
I have been using my Y560 for a year & the clicking sound was there, the first day itself.
Even after reformatting and one key recovery, the HDD still kept clicking evry 10-15 seconds.
However In the past 1 year there has been no HDD issues, the drive performs its operation normally.
and I have got used to the clicking noise & they don't bother me any more.
