My system is making an occasional clicking noise... But I currently have no problems with it. Could the less than 2 month old hdd be going bad? I'm going to run "CheckDisk" to see if it comes up with any errors...

But my hdd isn't a WD, it's a HITACHI_HTS725050A9A364

So this clicking noise is normal?

diskcheck comes with any errors? what you mean your system by the way? hard disk or speakers?

System as in the computer but I'm pretty sure it's the hdd, it's not the speakers. I did not do a diskcheck yet but will today and will report back later today.

LOL I fell asleep before the tests finished but stage 1-3 had no errors... I think it's the normal operation of the Hitachi hdd. The thinkpads had a problem with them before... http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_with_hard_drive_clicking Lenovo should release a new driver for the hdd like how they did for the older hdds.

And how would I check system logs? BTW have you read that article? It states that the hdd that IBM/Lenovo uses has problems like this.

right click my computer > manage > event logs.
