It's the way the hdd is made... Lenovo uses Hitachi hdds. This has been a problem with the thinkpads... http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_with_hard_dr
Lenovo needs to release a new driver for the hdd to fix it.

How is the chipset drivers going to work? And it looks like they haven't been updated in a while.
The drivers needed are for the hdd which would need to be released by Hitachi. Lenovo/IBM released new drivers for the old Thinkpads that had Hitachi hdds because of this exact problem. We just need to wait for Lenovo/IBM again...
BTW does being a moderator means you work for Lenovo?

I just purchased the Y560 Laptop - 06465CU, and am getting clicking noises from the hard drive. I held the laptop to my ears and confirmed it's coming from the hard drive.
Edit: Disk Error-checking came back with no error.
