PC won't read HDD from dead Z570. Help please!

My Z570 has the startup problem and is now dead.  I pulled the HDD to back up my data, but my PC won't read it...I get a "drive not formatted" message.  My laptop is running Win 7 and the PC is my old machine running XP Home ver. 2002, SP3.  Is that the problem...XP cannot read the Win 7 drive formatting?

The disk may be a Advanced Format drive?
XP may have trouble reading one.

(May be info on the drive label)
