Problem with fullscreening Youtube?

Not just Youtube, but I'm experiencing this problem aswell with Veoh.com. I play the movies fine, but if I try to full screen it, I can only hear audio and cannot see anything but a black screen. I thought that this might have been associated with me changing player defaults when I installed iTunes, but I have since uninstalled iTunes and nothing. Help?

I checked 5 different systems here (3 ThinkPads, 1 3000 series and an HP).  Only one of them has a problem viewing youtube fullscreen, and that one had a failed iTunes installation on it.  Don't know if that helps or not.

Re: Problem with fullscreening Youtube?

Using IE6 and Firefox 2, full screen Youtube videos work just fine for me under XP, where I also have iTunes installed.

Under Vista, both browsers work too, though I never installed iTunes there.

Hope this helps...

Re: Problem with fullscreening Youtube?

I actually haven't tried it yet with my IE, but I've installed and uninstalled iTunes and Quicktime and my fullscreen doesn't work. This saddens me, as it used to work before I decided to install iTunes just a couple days ago. I am pretty bummed.

Re: Problem with fullscreening Youtube?

Do you think iTunes left something in the registry that isn't getting cleaned up?

You've tried I.E. and Firefox to access Youtube?  Any difference?

Re: Problem with fullscreening Youtube?

Hrm. Mark, so far when I've accessed Youtube with IE and Mozilla, it's the same result. I can hear the audio, but the visual stuff is not fullscreened, I'm just looking at a black screen.

However, I did not yet consider the risidual registry left behind by iTunes and Quicktime.

I'm going to uninstall the programs and check it out with CCleaner when I get home. I'll report back later around 4:00pm Pacific Time.

Thanks!

Re: Problem with fullscreening Youtube?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the Flash plug in. These videos are Flash-based, so you might as well try it.

Re: Problem with fullscreening Youtube?

See the thing is, the other night was the first time I've used IE to look up Youtubes. So when I was on Youtube, I had to install a fresh plugin. That didn't work still. However, I'll be sure to try different combinations of removing iTunes and Quicktime, cleaning registries, and reinstalling the flash plugins.

Re: Problem with fullscreening Youtube?

The problem was definitely due to the Windows updates. I had to do a system recovery about twice today to figure out that Youtube was having problems only after the Windows updates. Sucks.
