I surfed around here to many threads on this topic, but theyre all over a month old, so rather than bump an old topic, I'll make a new one.
I have been having a screen brightness issue for a couple days now. Whether or not the charger is plugged in, the brightness is stuck, and the Fn key functions for the brightness bring up the little Lenovo brightness slider, but the brightness doesnt change, even though the slider says so. Also when the laptop goes to sleep, the backlight stays on, making the screen white, which I fear is draining power. I'm stuck somewhere around 40% brightness.
Changing the power options doesn't work. I did a system restore and it didn't fix it. I reinstalled the power management software and it still didn't fix the issue. Alive Idea Desktop is running and working, and I reinstalled the NVIDIA drivers.
none of the resolutions that have worked for other people have worked for me. Anyone?

Additionally, my Fn keys just stopped working, as did the slidenav, and all other lenovo-related windows (volume slider)
EDIT: i went to my earliest system restore and got my functions back, but the brightness problem is still going

for fn keys, un-install power management, restart your computer, install in but make sure "utility" checked.
for brightness issue, un-install nvidia graphic drivers, restart your computer and install it again. try to activate & use nvidia control panel in control panel.

Hi, I tried this, but didn't see where to check "Utility" When i reinstalled. Also, what do you mean by activateand use control panel for the NVIDIA control panel? What should I do in the control panel once I reinstall it? The control panel works and everything

it was "hotkey" for xp applications. ( make sure "hotkey" is checked )

and un-install alive idea desktop , restart your computer and install it again.

I'm on windows 7 64-bit. I shouldve mentioned that. I dont get that screen when I go to install it.
Also, where can I find an installation file for alive idea desktop? I tried to delete it and restore it but for some reason my colors got all messed up, so I just did a system restore.

my mistake, i was writing something for xp, then i tho it was for you.
but it is the same, on the power management installation there is utility instead of hotkey. i meant it checked for.
anyway, can you tell me which model of lenovo you are using?
also, please check your "d:\drivers" folder for alive idea desktop application.

just un-install the application, and see if it'll fix the issue, it may be related to slide nav, slide bar or something else, for now, i don't know where it is, but it has to be in that folder.
( if this doesn't fix your issue, you can use restore )

I uninstalled Alive Idea Desktop, and the issue still hasn't been fixed. All Fn key functions are still responsive but the screen brightness still won't change. Gonna try to reinstall AID and see if that works
