Does the Lenovo power management software interfere with the operation of shutting down or sleeping the laptop? I have had issues with my laptop not coming alive after it goes to sleep when on its own on its predetermined time. I return to my laptop and press any button on the keyboard to get it to come back and prompt me for my password but all I get is the power and battery light on but no display.

What model machine do you have?
I looked at some of your other posts. U400, right?
Are you using Energy Management or Power Manager? They are two different programs. Energy Management is for Idea Series and Power Manager is for Think Series.

Dave,
There is another thread with the same symptoms.
I have tried already a few things, but nothing helped.
Mind to have a look?

Hi filipe,
First of all, set a restore point in windows so you can get back to where you were in case something doesn't work.
Are you using the Lenovo preload or a clean install of Windows?
What are you using for AV?
The Energy Management software also has the hotkeys utilities incorporated in it, so uninstalling it will make the hotkeys not work.
Other threads for other machines suggested disabling the bluetooth. There has been some success with that.
Please forgive all the questions, especially things that you might have already tried.

Hi Dave,
Thank you for your prompt response.
1- Yes, I made backups and an image of the hard drive before starting to try more alternatives.
2- I tried Lenovo preload and a clean install of Windows, both had the same issues...
3- No AV installed.
4-Tried disabling the bluetooth, but the problems persists... When shutting down, the computer hangs just after turning off the screen... Power button lights are on and cpu cooler is on. Need to force the shut down by holding the power button for a few seconds.
Any more ideas?
Cheers,
Filipe

Hi filipe,
How about trying to shut it down from safe mode. Does it hang from safe mode?
Another thing, when you are in windows, open task manager and choose shutdown from task manager. Does it hang from there?

Hi Dave,
It hangs from Safe Mode, but different from the normal mode, the screen does not turn off... It hangs in the windows "Shutting Down" screen.
In the regular mode, shutting down from task manager presents the same problem. Turns off everything, but power button and CPU cooler remain turned on until the battery is drained.
Any more ideas?
Cheers,
Filipe

Does it do the same on AC only and battery only?
Also, try shutting it down when you have a couple of programs open. Like maybe a browser and a couple of open tabs.
Is there anything in the custom view of the event viewer? Like maybe a few ACPI errors or something like that?
You are running the service packs in the Windows 7, right?
Again, sorry for all the questions.

If you delete the Energy Management program . Some functions such as Fn+F5 , OKR (Novo) Button dont work . Em program is very important for the lenovo ideapad system.
