I recently bought a Lenovo Y 530, and by recently I mean yesterday and immediately got rid of Vista and put on Windows 7. Unfortunately my surround sound speakers seem not to be working and I can't see them in the sound settings and when playing music the volume is not the same at all. Does anybody know how to get the speakers back working?the sound on the Y530 was amazing beforehand and want it back
thanks for all the help

I think you install Windows 7 a bit too soon. The driver that includes the Dolby surround is not available for Win 7 yet. You can try installing th Vista driver from Lenovo for your model. Since Windows 7 is a Vista refresh the drivers are very much the same. I have found this out working with Windows 7 on many different computers for testing. You can also go into sound settings through control panel. Sometimes the speakers are not reconized properly and are not turned on through the software.
The real problem I found out becuse I have a Y530 with Dolby surround is that not many laptops use this and drivers are pretty much computer manufacture only for this. Good Luck

The latest Realtek drivers (R2.26, dated 6/5/09) from their site work perfectly for me.
Be sure to check the Dolby Home Theater Panel and confirm that Dolby Pro Logix IIx is checked for Quadraphonic sound.
If you're interested in updating to more recent nVidia drivers for the GeForce video cards (9300M GS and 9500M G) the latest WHQL-certified GeForce Drivers for Notebooks (Release 185) can be found here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_notebook_winv
I'm sold on Windows 7! Every function on my new Y530 works perfectly (haven't installed face recognition). My bootup times are now running ~45 seconds.
