The microsoft office starter on my Y460P no longer loads

I got a notification that microsoft office starter was ready to install some updates. So i closed microsoft office and let it install the updates, but was informed that there had been an error and i should try to repair the installation.

I go to control panel->office starter 2010, right click, change, and select to repair. Done.

But i still cant load microsoft office starter. It just hangs forever on the "Starting microsoft office click to run..." splash screen.

Any ideas on how to get microsoft office starter to run now?

Do Ctrl-Alt-Delete, start task manager, and kill the process CVH.exe. Let me know if this works / it's not there.

Also try using the system restore feature, select a date before you installed the updates,it should help

Yea, i closed the process, but it just hangs again when i try to start office starter.

Windows restore didnt work too. I restored to the earliest one and tried to start office starter, and then it tried to download some files but got stuck at 99%, and failed again.

try to re-install office if you have installation discs.

I dont have instlalation discs for office, the laptop didnt come with any.

you may need to perform clean windows installation to fix the office issue.

I have same problem on e520 - Lenovo support told me to buy full version - that is not a fix!

The best fix I found was to not use MS Office and use OpenOffice.
