U350 Ideapad won't recharge

I mistakenly unplugged my ideapad when it was downloading some software update. Since then, it won't recharge although it does recognize the battery. I shut it down and restarted it to no avail. It says, 48% available (plugged in, not charging). I took out the battery while the computer was running and put it back. no change. Whenever I unplug it, it dies so need to restart it.

try to remove the battery, un-plug the ac power, press power button for 30-40 seconds, replace the battery and check if it works.
