U460 won't charge after battery died

I bought my U460 in September 2010 and everything has been fine, battery life and all.

A couple days ago, I lost the Lenovo AC adapter in one of the classrooms at my college and the professor has not seen it.  Eventually, the battery died and even after purchasing a Targus universal adapter, the laptop will not even turn on.

I have taken the battery out several times.  Nothing seems to work.

The new adapter I have is a Targus "Universal Wall Power Adapter for Laptops" and has the correct tip.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

you shouldn't have used another brand of adapter for your battery.

have you checked the information before using it? ( such as input / output - voltage, hz, a - )

Leave the battery out for at least ten minutes.
