U550 Synaptics Pointing Device Issue [ Edited ]

Something has happened to the Synaptics that it is not being recognized or responding. I can still use the touchpad to move the mouse and click on stuff but I can not use it for zooming or scrolling.

Can someone please help me in figuring out what needs to be done so it will work again properly.

Also on a different note when I use the Fn key to adjust brightness or volume, there is no green meter/bar thing that shows up so I can see what level it is at. Why would this stop working?

re-install power management for volume&brightness issue

and re-install synaptic drivers to use these options.

Where do I go to reinstall the power management?

I got the touchpad working again!
