Can the Intel 1000 card be replaced with an Intel 6205? If so, where can one be purchased?
I'm looking to get the 5Gig N band.

Yes, according to the Hardware Maintenance Manual:
http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/ot/en/Guides/Gui
Can be found easily on eBay, but look for a Lenovo one,
as there may be an issue with "blacklisting" of generic.?
Description in HMM:
WLAN card,WiFi 2x2 AGN, Intel 6205N MOW M PCIE NB HMC
FRU number: 20002533

Dear Lenovo,
I am also interested in upgrading my Y470 wireless card. I was disappointed that I wasn't offered a wireless card that would use the 5 GHz band of my Cisco LinkSys E3200 router.
I searched on the Lenovo site and I can't find any of those cards that were listed in the Y470 HWMM. How do I buy a Lenovo approved wireless upgrade card that will transmit on the 5 GHz "N" band?
Thank You,
DragonRider

The Intel 6250 is listed, and it is dual band.

Others may be also, you have to search the
web by model from the HMM section Parts List
#15.
HMM link in previous post.

The 6205 (FRU:20002533) and 6250 (FRU: 20002388 or 20002321) are dual band N cards. Thus far I have had no luck locating any of them on ebay or otherwise.
I have found Lenovo cards for other models, but the fru's are different.

Both the 6205 and the 6250 are readily available through numerous outlets.
I already have a generic Intel 6205 and it doesn't work in the Lenovo. From what I've found out, I don't expect any non-Lenovo spec card to work. Leave it to Lenovo to require something a little different to prevent their customers from ordering parts from non-Lenovo suppliers.
Thanks for the offer, but I don't believe a Toshiba sourced card will work.

So, how do I order the correct FRU from Lenovo? There isn't one in the above "Shop Lenovo Store".
If there are any Lenovo sales representives, who actually read these forums, please let me know how I can obtain the upgrade to an approved FRU dual band 6250 wireless card from Lenovo.
PLEASE!!!!!!

Lenovo matches the approved cards with the antennas in order to comply with FCC regulations regarding interference.
As long as the card has an FRU number it should work. I've changed cards between different models of TPads before without a problem. But don't hold me to it.
Tech support might be able to help with that if you ask nice. Just an idea.
