Re: V570 No wake up, No video and now... no power

Just had the same probem with my v570 that I purchased on 1/5/12. It went to sleep last night, never to awaken. Sending it out to Lenovo on Monday... Hope the repair fixes the problem, I'll have reliability issues in the back of my mind once I receive the repaired/replaced unit.

To the person who has had the repaired unit returned, did you receive the same laptop back or another refurbished unit? I have my serial numbers written down, so I'll know if it was a repair or replacement.... Just curious.

Re: V570 No wake up, No video and now... no power

I bought a Lenovo V570 at BestBuy three months ago and since February I'm having problems with it. At the beggining I had the "Please wait"-common problem, so I removed the battery and held the power button for 30 seconds and nothing happened.
Only after two days the notebook was normally booted, but the next time I shut down the computer it didn't wake up anymore. I read at the forums that some people went to BestBuy and they got a new notebook. But I came to Brazil and unfortunately I can't use the warranty.
I have already called to Lenovo from Brazil and they said that they can't fix my computer even if I pay. I don't know what can I do to fix my notebook because It seems to be dead, the Windows don't starts anymore. Who could help me? I really need this computer to work and study.

I totally should have done that! Good thinking on your part. Mine is still sitting at the depot. It stoppped working on or about 2/7/12...
Did you have to pay for the fix? In case anything goes wrong in the future. I read someone got theirs back still not booting up, so just in case. Thanks

Re: V570 No wake up, No video and now... no power

Hello Everyone,

I'm new here and felt compelled to add my "no power" problem to the list already began.  Seeing the same as everybody else - plugged in but nothing.  This happened yesterday.  Tried everything mentioned above.  Bought my V570 at Best Buy in the middle of December 2011.  First I had the problem with the log on/please wait fiasco.  After deleting Aegis, it worked fine.  Now this.  Lenovo needs to see this as a major problem and rectify if they want to maintain customers.  Heading to Best Buy tomorrow evening after work to drop this thing off(thank goodness its under warranty).  Reason I bought a Lenovo in the first place was because my job's R50 Thinkpad worked great for 6 years no problems.  Hopefully Lenovo will fix right the first time or I'm never coming back.

Re: V570 No wake up, No video and now... no power

I have had precisely the same problem with my daughter's v570. The charge level was very low about 5% when the screen lid was closed (and the system went into standby). A few hours later the first symptom occured when the screen did not display when the power button was pressed, but the lights on the keyboard were present. Then with the charger plugged in, the laptop power indicator light (left light front edge) was off and the battery level indicator (right light front edge) was blinking red. This indicates that the battery was not charging (power indicator off) and the battery level was low (blinking red indicator). After several attempts at reinserting the battery, charger plug etc. the keyboard did not light up at all and there were no indicator lights. Totally dead. Did the 30 second reset several times, no change. Repeated this ta day later . No change. No lights no nothing. Note: I checked the charger, and measured a solid 20V at the output. The charger was not the problem. I called Lenovo and Best Buy and of course since it was a couple of weeks past the exchange date I could not return it to Best Buy. I got an RMA from Lenovo. It was a couple of weeks later that I was ready to box it up to send back when I decided on impulse to try the charger again. Plugged in the charger and now the power indicator lights up (front edge) and the charge indicator is blinking and I press the power button, screen lights up, voila all is well! The unit is now charging and appears to run perfectly nomal. The battery initially showed a 0% charge but eventually after 3 - 4 hours was nearly 100%.   I think the problem is in the battery charging circuit. If it gets very low (but not zero) it will not turn on the display, but there is some glitch that also turns off the charging circuit, so eventually the indicator lights don't even come on. It is only after a week or so when the battery is totally drained that the charging circuit is reset. This is just my guess. I will see if I can repeat the same sequence of events to reproduce this.

Re: V570 No wake up, No video and now... no power

Followup: Used computer for awhile. Seemed perfectly fine. Closed the cover while on, went into standby. Opened cover a hour later. Power button and font edge lights appeared normal (both white) but NO display. Rebooted several times (hard power off). Lights on keyboard and edge lights but no display. Did the battery out button 30 second thing. Now no lights at all, exactly as before. If I waited a couple of weeks I suppose it would work again but fail when it went into standby. This piece of junk is going back to Lenovo tomorrow!

Re: V570 No wake up, No video and now... no power

mine did the same thing i called lenovo they said i could take it to geek squad even though i didnt buy the extended waranty it was still covered under waranty. geek squad shiped it off and it was the mother board they replaced. so far no real issues except for the bioexcess thing and i uninstalled it.
