This is a very interesting post.  I am here looking to add a WiFi card to my Y510 and stumbled on your post.  Compelled to comment.

 

Anyway, perhaps the consumer will react the way everyone did when Sony got busted for installing spyware and other "big brother" data on user's computers who bought their CDs and DVDs.  Hopefully the consumer will rebel against manufacturers [aka MS and others] forcing us to not have a choice on what we buy.

 

If it gets too bad I will keep my old computers and never upgrade to the newer stuff.:smileyhappy:
