Y510 Hinge Problem :( !!!!

I read that there is hinge breking problem in Y510. My questions are,

1) Does it happens in every Y510 or 1 out of 10 or 2 out of 10 or x out of 10

2) If it happens, then whats the tentative date, like 1 month, 6 months

3) Does it happen again after its back from repair

Well, if no one of owners is ont responding, I will =)

This problem happens but it is rare.

Statistic shows that around 6 users out of 400 members of both Lenovo forum and  Russian iXBT forum had this issue.

This happens in between 2-3 months of not intensive use.

In Russia owners had their laptops repaired in one workday.

It never happens again after repair.

My boss at my last company broke the hinge on his T42 and he was never rough with it or anything.  Fact is, in some large quantity of things like hinges, which take a lot of torsional pressure, some small percentage is gonna have an cast in flaw that shows up after 2 to 3 months of usage, i.e. the front of the bathtub curve, and some folks are gonna have hinges break.  They too strong to break in QA testing before they go out, and too weak to survive.  If they all broke they'd stop shipping them because the cost of fixing that many broken hinges would easily outweigh the money made selling the laptops.

my laptop's hinge broke after 9 months. took 2 weeks for it to be replaced

hi i bought lenovo Y510 laptop few months back and have the hinge problem..

i got my case id locked 2 weeks ago..

but still the problem is same i havent got any reply from the lenovo care centre and the condition of my laptop is detoriating day by day.. i m sorry to say but the response i m recieving is very bad.. they told me it will take arnd a week's time and  still no rply. i think after this mail i will soon  get a positive response. hope to get a rply bak soon

mr gauravchawla, i think after you get the case id you must visit the lenovo service centre. they will check the laptop and indent the necessary spares from the company.similar problem happened to me and it took 2 weeks to get my laptop back.

i just fix it from service center...
