HI: As with many people, the LCD hinge on my Y510 broke. After repacing the broken hinge, we found that the laptop would only boot using the NOVO key and not the power button. (The power button light is on when the unit is booted - it just doesn't work.)
As well, if we put the laptop to sleep, nothing happens when you press the power button or the NOVO button. The only thing that we can do is unplug the laptop, pull out the battery and reboot. I took it to a reputable repair place and they could see no damage to any wires in terms of the LCD hinges being replaced.
Hibernation seems to work fine - but it takes longer to shut down/boot up than shutting down and cold booting in VISTA.
Because Windows VISTA is so slow at booting up, it is such a pain to have to power down all the time. Anyone have any ideas as to what might be going on? (I've considered doing a restore to see if it's software related - but it seems to be a hardware issue.)
Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to offer.
Dave
