Hi all.
I've developed VT activation procedure for Lenovo Ideapad Y530. But provided that your notebook corresponds to the following requirements:
- Your CPU MUST support Intel virtualization Technology otherwise you'll get nonfunctioning laptop.
- CPU MSR-register 0x0000003A MUST have zero value on BOTH CPU cores.
If your machine doesn't fit these conditions then my procedure can't help you.
If you want to try then you have to send me a request by email (middleton@list.ru) with the following information:
- CPU model.
- Operating system version (32 or 64 bit).
- BIOS version.

Several guys have successfully tested my patch and now I place here the final version.
You can download it here.
1) Run "Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit 2.0.exe" and make a dump of your current BIOS.
2) Run "VT-patch.exe" and patch the BIOS dump which was made on step 1 (backup copy "Backup.rom" will be created in the same folder).
3) Flash the patched BIOS with BIOS setup Easy Flash utility.
Warning: VT-patch will not modify your BIOS dump if your system doesn't support virtualization (you'll get an error message).

I would never start to make a VT solution for Y530 without you. Thank you for patience and readiness to test all my crazy ideas
.
To all: eeKyy was the first one who flashed my modded BIOS a month ago.

Nice work ~You are the man.Unfortunately my core P7450 doesn't support VT.
Recently I'm working on overlocking CPU through SETFSB(by modifying specific clock generator.I naked the motherboard figured out that Y530's is ICS9LPR363EGLF but only to find ICS9LPR363DGLF option in setfsb, luckily it worked) and succeeded in reaching 2.4Ghz which is the highest stable frequency(run 104million super pai in 20 seconds).
I tested system stability using EVEREST for over an hour without any hard errors.
It seems that P8* series have higher voltage so they can reach higher frequency. So do you also have methods to gain the CPU voltage and get ICS9LPR363EGLF‘s datasheet(*.pll file)

will this work on Y550's? (see my specs below in the signature)

Hi, can I use this on Lenovo Y430 (Intel P8400 2.2Ghz, Vista 32-bit)?
BIOS Version: 0BCN60WW (V3.16)
EC Version: 0BEC37WW (V2.11)

I resolved Y550 virtualization problem two months ago. Use search function of this forum.

I've resolved the problem for Y430 too. Check this link:

I removed Vista first thing when I got my laptop. I use Mint Linux 7 (64 bit) and run Windows XP in a VM as needed. These tools obviously won't work in a virtual environment and the Linux BIOS tools don't support the y530 BIOS yet.
Is there a way to apply your BIOS patch with a DOS boot disk or something similar?
Thanks much!
