BTW...
I also downloaded the latest driver and my problem still exists: I cannot keep the option where Nvida is set. It still continues to drop back to 'let other applications control the color settings'

Anyone resolved the problem?
I have got lenovo y550 with windows 7 32bit with the latest nvidia driver and the same issue.
It is very annoying, please give any solution to this.
thanks

oh, finally I knew, I have downloaded the latest nVidia driver to my new Y550, changed some settings in nVidia, and restart my Y550, F12 save, it's ok now.

It's 2012, and I just got the very exact problem described in this thread. I have a Y550 Win 7, 64bit Ultima, with NVIDIA GeForce GT240M. I've tried several different things and nothing has worked. 1) Driver from NVIDIA's website. 2) Driver from Lenovo's consumer website. 3) Driver you provide here. 4) Deleted device through control panel's device manager and somehow it found it by itself. 5) Click "use NVIDIA settings" and save profile, then re-load profile. After I reboot, that setting is lost! ![]()

I got error NVIDIA settings are not available in safe mode. Deleted drvivers again, and reinstalled the driver you provide. Saved the profile, reloaded it. Then, rebooted .... and ... did NOT work! After reboot, it shows "Use NVIDIA settings" unchecked, and "Other applications control color settings" checked off. ![]()
