Y550 Received Wrong Warranty with new laptop

[ Edited ]

Just received my Y550 (4186-CTO) today and the warranty tied to the serial number is not the 2 Yr At-home IdeaPad Warranty Upgrade, 45J9075, that I ordered and paid for.   I called tech support, but no success with fixing it.  Any suggestions?

Not sure how this will play out with the windows 7 / vista issue...   On a good note, the display looks fabulous and I can't wait to use it!  :smileytongue:

Re: Y550 Received Wrong Warranty with new laptop

Same thing happened to me. I purchased my warranty with my new Y550(2yr) in 8/08/09. While checking the warranty on line it said my  machine had only the basic 1 yr. I had to call customer support several times. The last time I called, they told me they had record of the warranty  in their system ? And it was covered. Not a real warm and fuzzy feeling with the response. Guess I'll have to wait for something to happen to know if the warranty is valid and in their system. (Let's hope not, really don't want to go through the headache) But If you get any other news, please let me know as I still don't know much...Do I have protection or not?

Re: Y550 Received Wrong Warranty with new laptop

I just talked with Lenovo Customer Service and he confirmed my order does have the 2 year at home warranty upgrade.  He said their system needs to update with my serial number, which will take two weeks!   You should check your serial number again...

Just a little concerned it takes Lenovo 2 weeks to update their system??  :smileysurprised:

Just saw a post from lenovo mark  in the received vista, not windows 7 topic... He does state the warranty takes about 10 days to get activated.

Re: Y550 Received Wrong Warranty with new laptop

Hi UCB! I just checked my warranty again on the lenovo site, like you suggested, and it still says I have a one yr. warranty! I got my hopes up that it would finally be updated...I bought my Y550 in 8/8/09 with extended 2YR. with damage protection etc. If you get yours updated on line, let me know! I have tried and tried, with no success.

Thanks for your help

All,

These warranty upgrades can take approximately 10 days to process the upgrade time period.   Please give this a week or so and check back on the warranty status site.

If after two weeks it still shows the one year,  please send me a PM with your sales order number and I'll follow up on it.

The systems may include a label saying 1 year warranty on the bottom - this is just reflective of the base terms.

DessertRatter,

It sounds like your update should have been completed some time ago - can you send me a PM with your system serial number and original sales order number?  I'll see if I can get this sorted out for you.

Best regards,

Mark

Re: Y550 Received Wrong Warranty with new laptop

Here is what it say's about  my warranty on the website: Sent Mark Lenovo info, hadn't heard back yet.

Should I call my local service center to find out?

This product has a one year limited warranty and is entitled to EZServ/Depot service. Customers may call their local service center for more information. Dealers may provide carry-in repair for this product.

What does this mean. Do I have the extended 2 yr warranty? Should I be worried?

Uh yea. I think I'm worried as I have been having problems since the beginning, even the support guy I dealt with didn't know about my extended warranty. Glad I have proof, but don't really want the hassle to prove it if my laptop fizzles.

Since it was only Friday that Mark asked you to send him the info, he's hardly had time to get it fixed.  He's not a magician, you know, and things don't happen instantaeously.

Re: Y550 Received Wrong Warranty with new laptop

Jane, just giving additional info on what the website said. I had talked to customer service who told me that my info on the warranty was there. I see nothing wrong with the post. Just wanted to give more info. What have I done wrong?
