I've had a Y560 (model 0646) for a year and a half. As this was my first experience with purchasing a Lenovo, I was hesitant, however all of the reviews I had read of the Y560 to the point of purchase seemed to be positive. I've had great success with the laptop until just recent. When i attempted to boot the laptop, the light under the power button would flash on, the Bluetooth light would come on, then everything would shut down. I've tried booting multiple times. In addition, I've tried removing the battery, CD drive, memory, hard drive and using an alternate power supply in various combinations there of with no success. At this point, the laptop is completely dead and unusable. I've done some search of the internet and even done the holding down of the power button for 30s with power and batt disconnected wih no reslove.
Any suggestions as to what process to take next?

There are no bios beeps (or beeps in general). The fan doesn't spin up either. I would say it's < .5s from button press to back to nothing.
I purchased the next day repair (thought we did the 3 year), though it was only for the initial year.

I tried HDMI, VGA and the LCD monitor (the laptop's one) all without any success. I don't think it's posting to the point of initialzing the screen (or external monitor) as it seems too quick that it flashes back off.

Could this be due to damaged USB connectors shorting out? I've heard of that with some other series. Don't know about the Y560.
Take a very close look at the USB connectors. Damaged pins could be shorting out power.

No recent changes to bios, Windows 7 or any drivers. With a combination of the various components in/out, (including the memory being in), the result is the same on attempted power up. Power button depressed, light under power button comes on, light on power light on front of laptop comes on, bluetooth light comes on, everything shuts off. No fan, no monitor, no noises at all. In all honesty, other than the lights coming on, there's no indicators the machine is powering at all.
I took a look at all of the USB ports, as well as the HDMI and other ports, no luck there either.
I had been using this system as a "desktop" lately, so the USB devices that were plugged into it have been in the same slots for an extended period of time. They were basically a Logitec keyboard and Razer mouse.
I appreicate the input and feedback so far guys.
