Y560 - problem with bluray and onekey recovery

hi everyone,

i have two big problems with my y560.

1) the bluray unit stopped working from day to another. i didn't make any system changes und i also had the latest version of cyberlink power dvd installed which used to work perfectly. i contacted lenovo support and was told that the bluray unit might be broken but i should re-install the operating system to check. so here's my first question: is it possible that the bluray unit will work again after re-installing the system? did anyone here make the same experience?

2) at first i wanted to restore my system via onekey recovery but after spotting a very annoying virus on my pc i decided to rebuild the system with a windows-cd. now that i have done it i realize that it was a bad idea... so i downloaded onekey recovery from the lenovo support website to restore the backup i created when i just got the ideapad. but when starting the installation file i receive the following error message:

"The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted. Please optain another copy of the file, verify its integrity, and try again."

i downloaded the file 3 times but it still won't work! can someone help please? it's definately the right file... if it's broken - where can i get a working version?

(sorry for using *no* punctuation marks but i'm not a native speaker and don't know where to put them in english... :smileyembarrassed:)

"The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted. Please optain another copy of the file, verify its integrity, and try again."

Re: Y560 - problem with bluray and onekey recovery

hi blubbmoep.
- yes, sometimes it helps. after re-installing windows, if you still have the issue, as lenovo service, ship it back to lenovo for replacement.
- you may have the issue due to your connection dropped while downloading the file. using download manager may help you to solve the issue.

Re: Y560 - problem with bluray and onekey recovery

using a download manager worked perfectly - thanks, yigit! at first, i tried to download the file with internet explorer where the problem occured frequently. now i'm back to firefox and i got onekey recovery completely. unfortunately the problem with bluray persists. i already installed the recent drivers and diagnosis tools say that my system was ready for bluray but the drive won't detect any disc...

[ Edited ]

any discs? not even dvd/cd? if so, your dvd-rom could be dead, i suggest you to contact lenovo support line for replacement.

( sometimes windows itself may cause dvd issues, if you can perform clean windows installation to make sure, do it before shipping your computer back to service )

please, mark the thread as solved if it is.

Re: Y560 - problem with bluray and onekey recovery

no, cds and dvds work perfectly fine! i already performed clean windows installation because of this issue but it persists. when i insert a bd there's a gentle noise but nothing else happens. is it possible that windows recognizes the drive as bd-drive (saying that everything works) but the bluray laser unit is broken anyway?
