I think Windows Restore might be turned off by default.  That's how it is set on my Y570.

Hey Jeffan,

 

out of curiosity, did you try toggling the graphics switch in the front?  Maybe somehow it toggled to "off' which means your're using the Intel HD Graphics instead of the GT555M.
