Y570 wifi adapter compatibility

[ Edited ]
Hi everyone! I want to upgrade my wifi adapter and here is a question: I looked through a list of wifi adapters in Hardware Manual and found out Intel 6205 with FRU 20002533. Then I found this Intel 6205 on Ebay but with FRU 60Y3253 (there is only one adapter with "for IBM/Lenovo laptops only" remark). I don`t want to modify BIOS, because I had  an issue with it and used a service centre to recover. Will it work without bios modification?

Yes, It is the only one adapter I want to see in my laptop from compartible adapters list in Hardware Maintenance Manual, because I like Intel products and because of support of 2.4 and 5GHz as well. I also dont want to buy external adapter and to do any operations with bios, because I had an issue with it. So I assume this adapter is the best choice, but if they are not compartible, I dont know where to find compartible version with FRU from manual

Re: Y570 wifi adapter compatibility

i cannot guarantee that if it works but if you buy wireless adapter from a seller who accepts returns, if it doesn't work, you can ship it back.

ps: i tried atheros and it worked fine.

Re: Y570 wifi adapter compatibility

I ran into the same problem trying to upgrade my Y570 WiFi adapter. FRUs listed in the Hardware manual seem to be non-existant. Lenovo support first informed me that the adaptor was intigrated and non upgradable. After almost an hour I think he finally relented and transferred me to parts (which was closed). On the second call after I offered return my laptop he came back and said that he could supply the card for $386 (half of what I paid for the laptop).

I returned to Ebay and found the following listing from dealer "iornament" for $33.99 from China :

"Intel Wifi/Wimax Link 6250 IBM Thinkpad Lenovo ANX N Wireless half pci-e card"

The card is a model: 622ANXHMW with a FRU P/N: 60Y3195.

The card arrived yesterday (15 days after ordering). The installation last night was simple. I didn't have time for much testing, but it seems that after updating drivers that everything is working perfectly.
