I went to kingston webpage and found 16GB upgrade wihtout problem. I installed in my Y580 and it works perfectly.

the y580 with the FHD screen seems to be unstable... it becomes wavy and as much as distorted when you magnify or place a mouse to long at an object... I believe Lenovo needs to update us on the FHD monitor.

I got a BSOD with 16GB GSKILL F3-1600C10D-16GSQ....![]()

You are saying BSOD with this RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8
Another user is confirming a working system with that same RAM.
Whats going on here?

Does RAM upgrade conflict with Lenovo warranty coverage? I bought extended warranty for accidental damage and things like that, if I upgrade my RAM to 16GB will this void the warranty?

No, it absolutely does not void warranty. Not sure if accidental coverage will cover you damaging the ram slot from improper installation. I think it would. New ram would be under warranty with the ram manufacturer and not Lenovo. A 3rd party warranty like squaretrade could cover both. All completely unrelated failures would be covered even in standard warranty.

Quick update:
I'm running 2 x 8GB of DDR3 1600 Corsair Value Select
I've run bench marks with several games and I've run Memtest86.
All of the diagnostics check out and everything seems to be normal.
I hope this helps.
