on a glass or wood table !! and by the way what is the most suitable way to place the laptop when using it ?

Anywhere that air circulation is free around it, is fine!
For example, on the bed isn't good or against walls and objects that block air circuit.
Can you hear your HDD more than usual?

Are you happy with the performance of the Z470 since I am thinking to get one. Can you give me your feedback please ?

Hi 3,
a flat surface like a glass or wooden tabletop without tablecloth is a good place for a laptop,
please test by just elevating the rear of your Z470 about 2 cm with something like rubber feet to ease air circulation
also download free Hardware Monitor to check temperatures...

please post results... Zehn
