can't increase volume when a cd and dvd is playing

I just noticed a problem on my y510 . I have had the machine since last January but in recent months noticed that whenever I had a dvd playing I could not increase the volument. The orange volume control doesnt work. The same thing when I have an audio cd in the machine. However, when I play an mp3 that is on my hard disc then the volume control works.  Is this some hardware problem that would require servicing?

I solved the problem by downloading a driver (LFAUD07US24). I found the solution on another thread dealing with speaker issues in the y510

where did you find this driver?

I can't remember. Search in the forum for y510 and speakers and you may be able to find the page where the driver is mentioned.  Subsequent to "solving the problem" I developed another problem on my machine: the earphone jack doesn't work anymore.  I called Lenovo and they said I would have to send the machine in for repair. You might also want to call Lenovo for your problem. Good luck with it.
