ideapad y550 backlight stopped working

I got a new Ideapad y550 a few weeks ago, but today after I had it in sleep mode for a few minutes and tried to turn it on again, the backlight is not working at all.  The only way to see the screen at all is to have it in sunlight.   I've read some websites about people having problems adjusting the briteness of it but not having it stop working completely even in the bios, so if anyone knows how to fix it without sending it in to lenovo or has had this problem before, that would be great.

got exacly the same problem here.

Try turning off the laptop, unpluging the power and removing the battery for a few seconds.  Its not a permanent fix, I still get this problem every once in while, but it should get the screen to work again.

Any settings in the bios setup that may relate to display?
Adaptive display?
