Hi all,
I would like to summarize steps to troubleshoot Y460p / Y560p model sound drop-out caused
by BIOS version 3FCN19WW and 3FCN21WW as follows:
1 - download DPC Latency Checker http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml
2 - connect the laptop with battery inserted to AC power, start up then run DPC Latency Checker
as sole application in full screen, you should see one red 18 milliseconds long latency spike
every 65 seconds like in picture DCP-1, then in addition play a low level audio recording
and you will hear one split-second (18 ms) audio drop-out every 65 seconds as well.
DCP-1
3 - then remove (disconnect) the battery and repeat step 2, now you should see no more full scale
red DCP spikes as in picture DCP-2 as well as hear no more split-second audio drop outs.
DCP-2
4 - installing BIOS version 3FCN17WW completely cures this sound drop-out issue!
A workaround is to disable Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery in Device Manager,
but then you will loose the Battery-Charge-Indicator.
If you are not seeing quite the same impact, obviously the particular Y460p/Y560p machine you are testing
is not affected by this issue, you have a different problem and flashing the BIOS is not a solution!
more details...

Hey here's a stupid question! How do I access my private messages? I have no idea where they are on this board.

Please scroll to the top of any forum page and you'll see an envelope under the search button, click on it to open the Personal Message function.

Thank you Zehnsteine,
Un-installing and re-installing the audio drivers actually solved my sound stutter.
Ten hours later, I have to correct myself and say no, it didn't. I did all the checks and I think it triggers by the bluethooth or the internet correction. I think I'll call Lenovo and let the deal with it, because the laptop is new out-of-the-box and is giving me problems from the beginning.

Excellent! I have the Y560p (64bit) and got the BIOS here:
http://rapidlibrary.com/files/ctrl-fn-lenovo-y460p
Fixed my issues (terrible audio break up when external monitor in use), but now my Fn and Ctrl keys are reversed.
Did I install the incorrect driver version?
Thanks.

Hi all,
yippee... a new BIOS version 3FCN22WW for Y460p/Y560p is available
to finally solve the sound drop out issue caused by previous BIOS vers.19 and 21.
I've tested new version 22 and found it's working perfect with my Y560p,
no more periodical DPC latency peaks with simultaneous sound dropouts.

Thanks Lenovo!
Happy computing... Zehn
I've marked this a Solution.
