Hello
My friend just bought lenovo Z560 laptop from US and using it in India.
The laptop has pre installed windows 7.
Now I want to format my laptop and install a fresh copy of windows XP. I have some general questions about the same.
1) In future, if I want to change my OS to window 7, how could I do that/ I haven't received any installation or windows 7 setup CD with my lenovo laptop.
2) Is there any warranty void if I fomat my lapto and change OS?
Any official help will be appreciated.
Thanks

- you can burn recovery discs on your own, read user manual for one key recover or take a look at this thread.
- it doesn't void your warranty
you need to change ide/sata settings in bios to install xp, by the way.
you can download drivers for xp from here

Thanks for the quick reply.
For chaging ide/sata, I guess I need to follow this
a. Turn on your laptop
b. Wait until your BIOS screen appears.
c. Now, press F1
d. Go to Config -> Serial ATA (SATA). Change this mode option controller to compatibility
d. Now, press F10 and ENTER
Am I right?

Hello This in in continuation with my old thread.
As suggested by forum mod yigit, I trid to create factory default recovery disc
But I getting the message
"This program cannot find the initial backup image. This function is currently unavailable"
How should I proceed with getting my factory default disc?

for initial backup, shut down your computer, start-up your computer by pressing one key recover and try again.
or under windows, try to select "recovery disc with existing backup image" instead of "factory default recovery disc".
( if you try under windows, make sure you have admin privileges by right clicking and select - run as admin - )
