z575 electric shock

Hello,
Last week I bought a Lenovo IdeaPad Laptop with AMD Z575GM A6-3400m 1.40GHz, 4GB, 500GB, AMD Radeon HD 6520, FreeDOS, Gray.

I worry that when I power the laptop from an outlet without ground the case of the laptop  (being mostly metal) "tickle" electric (easy electric me) and permanently!
I observet measured as if it were 88V AC (pretty much supply that indicator).
If I power the laptop from normal grounded outlet or it runs on battery everything  is ok it does  not tickle.

My question would be if this is normal (does every unit from the specified model have the same problem) or I've got a defective unit!

Hi Cioraneanu,

the 88 Volts AC you've measured is harmless capacitive leakage,

in fact all modern equipment is designed to be connected to a properly grounded AC outlet only.

I don't think your Z575 is defective, otherwise it would probably blow the fuse if connected to a grounded outlet.

Cioraneanu... if the electrical installation in your house is free from defects, the tickle is completely harmless...

but... generally and for reasons like e.g. RF Interference I advice to use properly grounded AC outlets only.
