Re: Disk Partioning and OneKey Recovery Feature

Try resizing C: partition to 30 gb - usually it helps.

Re: Disk Partioning and OneKey Recovery Feature

Hi skripatch,

tryed to resize like this but the least it takes is 90GB for C: I did that but still does not work, giving message " THE HARD DISK PARTITION IS DIFERENT FROM THE PRECONFIGURED BACKUP. SYSTEM RECOVERY CAN NOT BE DONE".

Looks like perm damage. Think I can return this to Lenovo for repair? Still trying to work this in many ways but does not seem to work.

Thanks

Try backuping all your files on USB-HDD or else to free space enough for creating a primary active partition sized by 30Gb.

This usually helps to make NOVA functioning as planned.

If you will go to service center, do not also forget to backup all your data on different stroage than your internal drive, since service centers are not responsible for any fo your data on HDD.

Re: Disk Partioning and OneKey Recovery Feature

Backed up all my personal files to external HD and even now partition being empty, not allowed to lower its size. Got same message back from NOVO button.

On Vista CD to reinstall it, shows that I can browse for some driver in order to do so, but have no idea if that could work. Know aything about it?

Re: Disk Partioning and OneKey Recovery Feature

try downloading and using Parted Magic - it's a bootable Linux-based ISO. It's easy to use even for those who are not familiar with Linux and it already helped plenty people.

Re: Disk Partioning and OneKey Recovery Feature

According to Windows Explorer my personal account on this computer ( documents, pictures, everything) is on drive C.  Can I safely drag and drop my stuff to D drive?

Re: Disk Partioning and OneKey Recovery Feature

In context menu of "My Documents" or in it's properties there's a tab "location". It's responsible for the place where your personal docs are held. Just reallocate necessary directories.

Re: Disk Partioning and OneKey Recovery Feature

I'm a new user and am really hoping for some simple language directions on moving stuff to the D drive. I've had my Y510 about a month and am basically out of room on the C drive with 0 used in the D drive.

Can someone walk me (and probably many others) thru this process?

Thanks-

Re: Disk Partioning and OneKey Recovery Feature

I used the Move tool in the Properties box. It moved all my Documents to the D drive. But the original older is still in the C drive. Can I delete it without a problem?

This question goes to all the other folders that I plan to Move to the D drive (Downloads, music, pics, etc).

Thanks

Re: Disk Partioning and OneKey Recovery Feature

Well, you may.

But it's better to not to touch them since they're not just usual folders but some folders related with registry keys, so just keep away - no one knows what surprise redmond programmers hide there and what will happen if you remove them :robothappy:
