lunus,
Send me a PM with your order number and I'll see what can be done. Generally, It's looking like most of the Y730's on order will ship out to customers after 10/20/08, so it should be in your hands before the end of the month. This is a relatively new model and so supply is ramping up.
I try to lend a hand here for those who have come to the end of their rope, but obviously can't be a one man order support desk.
The primary method is to check status on the order status site or by calling sales if you have a question or concern.
I do appreciate your sharing your experiences here and hope that once you receive your system that you will continue to do so.
Best regards,
Mark

1-2 days ? not buying it ! hehe maybe there is some light at the end of the tunnel for those configurations. ![]()
Looking at the configurations the only differences are the cpu's and maybe the motherboard? So if they are all being delayed then it must be a common part. Which there are many.
my config is the 40532CU

You said to me "Generally, It's looking like most of the Y730's on order will ship out to customers after 10/20/08, so it should be in your hands before the end of the month." I did not order a Y730, as stated in my message, I ordered a ideapad U330, I guess my post was not read

I'm in the same situation as John (whereismyputer) too. I placed my order for a Black S10 on 8/19 at 9:00am EST. My order status shows an estimated ship date of 11/18. I have been patiently waiting, but now I see that Black S10's are available for purchase at Circuit City. What gives? Why are those of us who pre-ordered from the Lenovo still waiting for delivery when they are available from retail stores?

Not that it makes a ton of sense from a direct-purchase customer service perspective, but Circuit City's S10 models are the 160GB/1GB ones rather than the 80GB/512MB you ordered. It's possible that Circuit City placed their mass orders before consumers were allowed to place theirs, and a guaranteed bulk sale beats an individual sale any day of the week. Ideapads are Lenovo's mass-market consumer laptops, and they're resold through a wider variety of brick-and-mortar stores than Thinkpads. I remember when you could ONLY buy Ideapads through third-party sellers. They may have botched the launch of the S10, but at least it's possible to skip patronizing Best Buy etc.
I bet Circuit City's S10s came with a proper exterior cardboard box though, rather than bothering with shipping them in straight retail boxes. It'd be a tough sell for their customers if the product comes looking like it had the hell beaten out of it on the way over ![]()

I got one of the circuitcity.com black S10s ... It is a 160GB/IGB model as you describe.
Mine was double boxed as it should be ... shipped the same day I ordered it ... and works great ... :-)

I'm curious - is the 1GB RAM onboard or is it just 512MB onboard + 512MB in the socket?
I suppose I should rephrase, is there an open socket for further RAM expansion in the S10 you recieved?

I agree that the Circuit City S10's are different models with 160GB/1G and that Circuit City may have placed their mass order before individual consumers. My issue is with Lenovo's handling of the individual consumer delays. They started to accept pre-orders on 8/19 with earlier estimated delivery dates for the black models over the white and red models. Now the white and red S10's are available but the black S10's are delayed because of part shortages (supposely a short of black batteries). Couldn't Lenovo have worked with Circuit City to replace some of their black S10's with red and white S10's making more black batteries available to satisfy their direct consumers? Lenovo could have done a better job with keeping all their customers informed and satisfied.
I still don't understand, after waiting two months, why my estimated ship date is still a month off.
