Re: IdeaPad Shipping / Order discussion

[ Edited ]

Dennis_Bham,

Can you send me a PM with your order number ?

All,

We do fulfill orders in the order received as possible.   Some exceptions could be if there are supply constraints on a particular component or version - in this case, color could have some bearing in the matter.

Regardless of estimated ship date messages, I expect the next shipments of S10 to go out starting 10/6.

Some additional quantities could ship this week based on on hand inventory.

I would advise against cancel / rebook in an effort to try to improve delivery time unless you were advised there was some reason your order could not be fulfilled by the sales team.

Best regards,

Mark

Re: IdeaPad Shipping / Order discussion

Mark,

My White S10 arrived and I got a chance to open my package. To my dismay, the right hinge where the Kensington hole is located, a piece of it is coming apart. There is a huge gap exposing the hinge connection when the S10 screen is open. I push the piece back together only for it to come apart when the S10 is being open and closed. I am concern with this because I am afraid eventually the screen will come apart from that hinge. I have had Gateway, Toshiba, Dell, and Sony notebooks and I have never seen anything like this before. This is my first time buying a Lenovo unit and I am disappointed that after a long wait the notebook came to me in this condition.

For your information, the packaging that the S10 arrived was pretty beat up. I do not know if this is the cause of the hinge falling apart. The packaging looks like it was not designed well to provide adequate protection for its contents. At one point I was able to see the inside of the box and got to see the S10 without opening the seal.

I called 1-866-968-4465 but it is after hours and they are not available. I would like to know the best and fast way to resolve this issue so that I may get the chance to use and enjoy this notebook. I brought this to your attention because from reading this forum you have been very receptive and responsive to user concerns.

I look forward to hearing back from you soon. I will give it another shot tomorrow and call the number. Thank you for your time on this matter.

Re: IdeaPad Shipping / Order discussion

imAlwaysOnline, welcome to the forum,

it certainly seems as though your S10 was damaged in transit :smileysad:

Rather than waiting for Mark to reply, he receives alot of personal requests, I would suggest you follow the advice offered in Mark's post here. Make sure you keep the packaging.

Andy

Re: IdeaPad Shipping / Order discussion

Thanks for welcoming me to the forum. I will follow your suggestion. When I saw the packaging I was hoping that there was a chance that the S10 would be alright. It doesn't look that way. Thanks for the suggestion and I will provide a follow up on the support call.

Re: IdeaPad Shipping / Order discussion

ImAlwaysOnline,

I saw your posts over on the S10 forum and the pics about packaging.   AndyP's advice is appropriate - try to use normal channels, and if you get stuck, send me a PM.    Given the backlog we are working through, service may be a better option timewise, than ordering a replacement, but certainly as a physically damaged unit with pictures of the packaging, you have a good case for either option.

I'll take forward the report about how the packaging survives and recommendation concerning the need for an overpack box .

I'm truly sorry about your setback - I know the system was much anticipated, and this is a real disapointment.   I know we really appreciate the enthusiasm with which the S10 has been received by the community.

Best regards,

Mark

Mark,

I know this issue is not your fault, but you appear to be incorrect in stating that the orders are being shipped in the order they were received. I understand that certain color configurations were not available in order, but it appears that the red S10's are (finally) coming in stock, and are being shipped out of order.  As far as I know, there is no configuration options for any of the S10's that were sold, so they should all be the same besides color.

I ordered my red S10 probably in the 1st hour of them being on sale (at noon on 8/19). My original ship date was 9/9, and was bumped to 11/18.

Now it appears that 2 people who ordered later (in one case 3 days later) than me have had their orders shipped.  I'm not upset that other people are getting their notebooks, but something seems to be badly broken with the order fulfillment system.  I know someone else who ordered a red one and cancelled their order 2 weeks ago who received a shipping notice. So some S10's are going out to people who don't even want them over people who were the first in line.

EDIT: Well, it appears mine has shipped now as well.  Hopefully everyone else will be getting their red ones as well.

Re: IdeaPad Shipping / Order discussion

Congrats to all the people that will recieve their new laptops. Lenovo is a great company, and if they fix their shipping dilemma then they are golden.
