Legacy ThinkPads - A, I, V, 300, 600, 700 and other prior series

All greetings from snowy Russia!

I had to install Win7 on my laptop a31p, in general, I am very pleased with the speed and new features. All the drivers are set automatically, and even managed to get to work the battery icon in the system tray
But there is one big problem: I can not find drivers for FireGL 7800 graphics card

I wrote a request to ATI (now AMD) but ou redirected me to Lenovo, citing the fact that they do not write drivers for these cards.

I would be very grateful for assistance in finding the driver for Win7 or la Vista!

Welcome to the forum!

There is NO driver for Vista or W7 when it comes Fire GL 7800 because it's simply considered underpowered to run any of these operating systems.

I've had to tweak the XP driver to get it working under W7, and results were less than spectacular, although not bad for a 7-year old machine.

Hello to all,

I am new here, using an A31p, I like it and I would like to continue to use it for another few years. Therefore the Video driver issue for Windows 7 is also of great interest to me.

Win 7 installs automatically some generic VGA driver, allowing the use of high resolution and 32 bit colors, but the speed is just not good enough.

Half a solution is better than no solution at all, therefore I am also very much interested in your tweaking the XP driver for Win 7.

Please tell us the secrets.

You can install Lenovo's XP driver, but NOT the ATi Control Panel.

Perform all necessary actions and have a working driver!

 Increased peromance to 1.9 (!) + Use a second monitor

P.S There was a small problem - when to start a laptop on docking station - it hangs at boot  windows

(solution: startup without a docking station and then put the laptop on the docking station (have any ideas?)
