Hi

 

It seems the hard disk  is faulty . Try to recovery your data first .

 

Then you can try using a low level  format utility  for formatting the disk , if still you are getting the sound .

 

It is recommended to replace the same .

A defective HDD is one possibility, but ThinkPads of the Z60 generation also had HDDs that made such clicking sounds "normally."

You should listen to what Hausman provided, take a moment to backup anything mission critical stored on the clicking drive.

Backing up mission critical data is something everyone should be doing anyway and your noises are as good as any other to start if you haven 't been doing so already.
