IBM Thinkpad Z60t help

Well I reinstalled windows xp pro sp 2 on my grandpa's old ibm thinkpad model Z60t, because he gave it to me and i didn't need half the stuff on the hard drive. So I reinstalled xp and I don't have any driver disks or backup discs. So I went to the Lenovo website and tried to download the drivers on my desktop and transfer them to my laptop. I reinstalled the wifi driver but it is not working properly. It won't let me connect to the internet. Also, it won't let me put the computer on stand by.

Please help.

Re: IBM Thinkpad Z60t help

Welcome to the forum!

On the bottom of the machine is a sticker which shows the serial number (don't post that), production date (such as 05/11) and the 7-character model number which should be something like 2529-Q1U...what exactly is the model number?

Your machine won't go into standby because it's missing the correct video driver, which is here:

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS002728

After downloading and extracting the driver, you must go into C>Drivers>Win>Display and run the setup file from there.

Good luck.

Cheers,

George

It has 2 GB RAM and a 90GB hard drive. The original 7c battery died so i got a new 4c. Also the wifi still dosen't work, even after installing it. It says unable to find log certificate.

Re: IBM Thinkpad Z60t help

Have you installed the chipset driver? Access Connections?

Sometimes there's more to getting stuff to work than just installing one driver...

Cheers,

George

Re: IBM Thinkpad Z60t help

Install System Update from here:

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-66956

That should find most if not all of the drivers that you're missing.

After that, proceed to Access Connections:

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-4ZLNJB

Good luck.

Cheers,

George

Re: IBM Thinkpad Z60t help

I installed access connections, and it worked. I just needed to install access connections, and mess around with the settings.

Thanks
