Lenovo Z 61m 9450 HAG heat issues

Hi

My laptop gets extremely hot when running after an hour or so.

Once in a blue moon when booting up it says Fan Error.

How much does a new heatsink cost? Or do i just need to replace the fan ?

I'm in South Africa.

Hello mate,

if your system says fan error, I'd rather to change the fan. Costs arond 80 USD for a new one.

Fan error can be either caused by a broken fan or a bad motherboard.

Changing the fan is the easiest fix for this problem.

Would be much cheaper if you buy from eBay, Marketplace of ThinkPad Forum is another alternative. According to HMM, the part # for the fan (for your particular model) is 41W6569.

You can also try blowing some dust out of the fan.
