(Z61m) Speaker Feedback.

My Z61m (9450-35U) is getting feedback that sounds like an old hard disk seek sound that last for around a second then goes away for 2 - 4 seconds, and reaccurs as such. The sound level of this issue obeys by the volume level as set by the windows software volume level control, it's alot more noticable when I plugin my headphones.

Any help would be appricated.

Re: (Z61m) Speaker Feedback.

No, I don't have the microphone active. I'm not hearing any feedback from the microphone it's self. Like the sound of my keyboard clicks or anything like that, as I would when I do video conferencing the the other person is using there speakers and a microphone. I don't hear anything like that. It really does sound like a higher pitched hard drive seek and it's constant, and the interval sounds regular.

Re: (Z61m) Speaker Feedback.

[ Edited ]

I have an identical issue on a ThinkPad T410 2537-E49 running XP.  I have updated he drivers, to no avail.

I am convinced I heard the noise even when the mute button was pressed, but will certainly monitor this after the above statement. Update: The noise occurs even when the system volume is muted in the volume properties.  Therfore the speaker or "component" is triggering the noise.

Also the issue occurs when docked (why wouldn't it I guess).

I agree that it sounds like an old disk head seek/park noise, but mine is followed by a very short blip/bleep.

No mike, no webcams.  Everything is stock Lenovo (company build), but using XP instead of W7.  Incidentally, I am asking for the WIN 7 build to be put on the lappie as a test to see if the issue is still there.
