unable to install volume controls / battery status software on A22m

I have a rather old ThinkPad - a A22m 2628-TSU - that I just recently reformated and installed with Windows XP.

I'm now trying to install the software that'll let you adjust the volume with the volume buttons and that'll show the batteries status and am having some difficulty doing so.  I would have thought that Keyboard Customizer Utility for Windows 2000, XP - ThinkPad and ThinkPad Power Management driver for Windows Vista, XP, 2000, Me, 98 SE - ThinkPad would have done the trick, but alas, it appears that they do not.  I ran the *.exe that I downloaded, which created a C:\DRIVERS directory, and I then ran the setup files within each of the newely created directories, but that didn't help.  So what will help?

Also, unrelated to this...  whenever I try to visit lenovo.com, in Firefox, on that computer, the computer freezes.  It doesn't do this in Internet Explorer and lenovo.com is the only page I've found that causes this problem in Firefox (well, the whole computer freezes, but it only happens while I'm using Firefox).  I know this is a short in the dark, but...  any ideas?

You need to install the Hot Key driver from the system utilities file matrix. (You may also need the on screen display utility also?)

Uninstall Firefox, then re-install it. Latest is 2.0.0.11 from here

What about the battery status indicator?

From the system utilities file matrix, I tried the Configuration Utility for Windows 95, 98, 98SE, Me, 2000, XP and the On Screen Display Display Utility.  Neither added the battery status thing...

Any ideas?

For that you need the battery maximiser from the normal driver matrice site.

Andy is correct on the battery readings.  You need the Battery Maximizer program.

The program that you downloaded for the volume controls on the screen should have worked.  If it didn't, I would rerun the setup file.
